Liam electrifies Glastonbury with Oasis throwback

Liam Gallagher has brought Oasis back to the Glastonbury main stage once again, blasting through the band's biggest hits alongside his solo material.

Wonderwall was "biblical", he told the crowd, while his last song of the night, Champagne Supernova, was dedicated to "the one and only Keith Flint".

Wearing a checked hoodie and sunglasses, the star joked he was "freezing my t*ts off" after being told to ditch his trademark parka due to the record-breaking hot weather earlier in the day.

Despite being known for his outbursts, especially when it comes to big brother Noel, the set was largely without controversy, save for a couple of small digs.

"Apparently this is sh*t," he said before Wonderwall, in a possible reference to his sibling's comment that he does not "particularly like" the song.

Drawing a sizeable audience at the famous Pyramid Stage, the performance was met with flares set off in parts of the crowd and scores of fans on shoulders as thousands sang along with him, word for word.

Having opened with Rock n Roll Star, Gallagher quickly moved on to Morning Glory in a set which also included his own tracks Wall Of Glass, For What It's Worth and Shockwave.

But predictably, it was the Oasis numbers which got the biggest reaction, with Slide Away and Roll With It met with roars.

After new song The River, it was an Oasis finale, with Cigarettes And Alcohol - dedicated to festival organisers Michael and Emily Eavis for "letting me continue my Glastonbury residency" - followed by Wonderwall, Supersonic and Champagne Supernova to close.

The song, an Oasis favourite, was dedicated to Prodigy frontman Flint, who died earlier this year.

"In a bit," Liam said, as he left the stage with the crowd chanting his name - and leaving headliners The Killers with a tough act to follow.
