Dec to host BGT live shows alone

An ITV spokesman confirmed the news today following Dec's successful solo stints hosting Saturday Night Takeaway

Declan Donnelly will host the Britain's Got Talent live shows alone, ITV has confirmed.

A spokesman for the show confirmed: "Declan Donnelly will host Britain’s Got Talent live shows on his own while Ant McPartlin 'steps down from his TV commitments for now'."

Following his “drink-drive” crash in March, Ant checked back into rehab and is no longer a part of this year’s live shows.

But despite his absence from the live shows, the 42-year-old will appear on screen during the pre-recorded audition stages.

Dec hosting stint comes after the success of his solo stint on Saturday Night Takeaway over the past two weekends.

The presenter revealed presenting the two shows alone had been “tinged with sadness” as he addressed fans after the final when the cameras stopped rolling.

In The Sun Online’s exclusive video Dec tells the crowd: “Thanks for all the love and support, it’s been a series tinged with... well...”

As Dec struggled to find the words, someone yelled from the audience: “We miss Ant!”

To which Dec replied: “Yes, we do, we do. It’s tinged with sadness.”

Then in a show of support for Ant, he asked: “Can you all give a one round of applause for Ant who is at home.”

The pair were missing from the Britain’s Got Talent promotional pictures released yesterday.

The glamorous snaps reveal Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Stephen Mulhern all posing ahead of the next series which starts on Saturday.

The high-glamour shoot shows judges Simon, David, Amanda and Alesha, posing in the grand hallway of the London Palladium.

Amanda and Alesha both look sensational in jaw-dropping scarlet gowns, while David looks dapper in a smart, black tuxedo.

Simon looked happy and relaxed as he smiled for the cameras in his trademark white shirt.

One of the most poignant acts the show has ever seen will air in the coming weeks.

Manchester bombing survivor Hollie Booth wows the judges, with Simon calling her performance a “moment he’ll never forget”.

She reduces Alesha and most of the audience to tears and is already a front-runner to get into the finals of the show.
