The list of eligible artists, albums, and singles is compiled by the Official Charts Company and submitted to the voting academy, which consists of over 1,000 members of the music industry, including the previous year's nominees and winners.
The voters use a secure online website to vote, and the voting is overseen by a company called Electoral Reform Services.
For the BRITS 2018, viewers are able to vote in two categories - British Artist Video and British Breakthrough. However, voting for these categories closed on Friday 16th February.
Music lovers have also been able to vote in the British Artist Video of the Year category.
In January, the top ten were identified by YouTube/Vevo views.
A public social vote will narrow it down to five. The winner will be decided with a live social vote during the TV broadcast.
